How It All Started
I’m Gertie Acosta, a Procurement Consultant who helps tech companies build procurement systems that actually work - systems that are simple, transparent, and designed for how modern teams buy software, cloud services, and subscriptions.
My path into procurement wasn’t traditional. I started my career in indie film production, where I was constantly negotiating - locations, contracts, schedules, and budgets - often with limited resources and impossible timelines. That experience taught me how to move fast, find creative solutions, and negotiate effectively long before I ever entered the tech world.

Reimagining Procurement
When I transitioned into technology, most notably at Napster, I encountered procurement at its most fragmented. Subscriptions were scattered across departments, multiple company cards were in use, invoices came from every direction, and critical information lived in endless email threads. Renewals were untracked, ownership was unclear, and visibility was minimal.
Instead of adding heavy tools or complex workflows, I rebuilt procurement with a different focus: where real value is created. I prioritized contract negotiations, vendor relationships, renewal planning, and cost optimization, designing systems that were simple, transparent, and intuitive enough to require no onboarding - whether for a small subscription or a major enterprise agreement.
The result was a lean, resilient procurement framework that scaled through leadership changes and organizational growth, managing millions in annual spend while keeping tooling overhead deliberately minimal - without sacrificing control or insight.
My Approach Today
I’ve worked hands-on with Finance, Legal, Engineering, Product, Marketing, IT, and Executive teams, giving me an insider understanding of how procurement operates inside growing tech companies - and what it takes to keep it effective as organizations scale.
While AI and automation can support procurement, I firmly believe that negotiation still requires a human touch. Technology should eliminate busywork - endless data entry, spreadsheet maintenance, and tab-hopping - so people can focus on strategy, planning, and building strong vendor relationships.
Today, I help tech companies design clear, agile procurement systems that support smarter buying decisions, strengthen vendor relationships, and scale effortlessly as teams grow - allowing procurement to become a practical advantage rather than a blocker.
